History is temporal and geography is spatial. Space (Area /land /earth) studies in the contemporary world ie present are central to the study of geography.

While study of earth over time, past, bygone era is central to the study of history. By history we often mean human history not history of the earth which makes geological history closer to geography.

Studies have been conducted in the interdisciplinary approach to historical geography and geographical history. These are often taught in universities and colleges as well as used as tools for research in phd and post phd levels.

Historical geography gives a reconstruction of geographic phenomenon in the past like cotton textile industry in 19th century England /major crops grown in North Indian Plains during Akbar, s reign. Urban geography of major cities of Europe and Asia in, 17 th century.

Geographical history on the other hand can be society in rig vedic period, climate change in North Africa and its relationship with the decline of Egyptian and Nubian civilisation.

And many more.
