Non metal have tendency to gain electrons electronegative element is an element which gains electron and forms anions the non and metals like F CL O has a tendency to gain electrons and they do not gain protons means positively charged ions

Non metal has the tendency for gaining the electrons.

The electro-negative elements are the element that gains the electron and creates the anions.

The nonmetals i.e. F, O, Cl has the tendency for gaining the electrons.

They do not get the proton that means the positively charged ion.

On the other hand, metals lose the valence electrons to form the cations to get the completely stable octet.
