The spread of disease is most likely during heavy rainfall and floods. The water and food gets contaminated. The water logging cause growth of micro organisms and house files. They spread pathogens rapidly. The humid atmosphere induces food spoilage. Even if flood water recedes, the poodle formed helps in the breeding of mosquito. All such reasons are responsible for epidemic spread of disease.

Diseases spread on a large scale during periods of heavy rainfall and floods because of the following reasons:-

  • The spread of diseases increases during the rainy season because the chances of food and water contamination are very high during these days which leads to more diseases.
  • Water logging in the areas because of land pits causes harmful bacteria and flies to grow, which also contaminate food and water and cause several diseases and infections to not only humans but animals also.
  • Rainfall and floods bring optimum conditions for insects to grow and complete their life cycle which further causes diseases in humans.
  • A most common example of such disease is Malaria which is spread through mosquitoes that grow in stagnant water.

That's why Diseases spread on a large scale during periods of heavy rainfall and floods.
