Answer:
(a) A new quilt is warmer because the air which is trapped inside the cotton or woolen clothing acts as an insulator and does not allow the transfer of heat. However, when the quilt gets older, the air spacing of the cotton or wool gets compressed.
(b)Bottom part of the cooking utensil is blackened so that maximum amount of heat is absorbed by the utensil, where as the upper part is kept shining so that minimum amount of heat is lost from the cooking utensil.
