reaction of aluminium with air :

the surface face of aluminium metal is covered with a thin layer of oxide that helps to protect the metal from the attack of air.

so normally aluminium metal does not react with air.

if the oxide layer damaged , aluminium layer is exposed to attack of air .

I hope that it will help you...
