give reasons as to why second language learning is more difficult than first language learning for students ( within 300 words)
Answers
Second language learning is more difficult than first language learning for students because of some of these reasons:
Lack of well-qualified teachers
Lack of a favorable learning environment
Lack of seriousness of the student to learn the language
Over-Use of Native Language in the Classroom
Too much dependency of the students on the teachers.
Dominancy of strong students in the class
The language is taught to the students as a subject and not as a language.
Unable to express in English language and hence ending in taking the help of mother tongue.
Lack of understanding the grammatical structure of the language.
The problem in learning vocabulary and pronunciation.
Why second language learning is more difficult than first language learning for students
Learning a second language is always more difficult than the first language. There is only one chief reason behind it. And the reason is language learning environment. Environment here means language learning environment.
Learning first language is easy because everyone around the learner uses this language. Parents, family members, friends, peers, teachers, etc. use this language. So, the learner picks up and imbibes the language structures, pronunciation, and tone from the environment.
On the other hand, while learning the second language, the learner has only limited learning tools such as books, teachers, etc. the learner has to understand the language structures intellectually. In such cases not all aspects of language skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking develop equally.
If one gets proper learning environment for the second language also, one’s fluency in it is quite good. So, while learning the second language one should try to create competent learning environment around him/her. One must practice equally the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
