The adipose tissue is a type of the loose connective tissue composed of fact cells also known as adipocytes. The adipocytes are fat-filled cells making up the adipose tissue.

The main reason why the adipose tissue is a good insulator, is because of the fat content in it. Fat is a poor conductor of heat and makes a good insulator.

This insulation by fat ensures that heat is not lost to the environment that might lead to hypothermia or excess gain of heat from the environment that may lead to hyperthermia. Hyporthermia and hyperthermia are dangerous core body temperatures that may lead to death.

A adipose tissue acts as an insulator of heat because it stores fat, and storage of  fats acts as an insulator.
