Give reasons for each of the following :
(i) Use of rubbing the area infected with stings of bee with baking soda.
(ii) Fused calcium chloride is used in desiccators
(iii) In balloons, hydrogen is not used even though it is lightest gas
(iv) Nitric acid is not used for preparing hydrogen

Answer:

❤️A paste made of baking soda and water can help neutralize bee venom to reduce pain, itching, and swelling. Apply a thick layer of baking soda paste to the affected area. Cover the paste with a bandage. Leave on for at least 15 minutes and re-apply as needed.

❤️ Fused calcium chloride is deliquescent in nature , absorbs moisture and hence used as a desiccating or drying agent that is used in a desiccator . Conc. sulphuric acid being hygroscopic in nature acts as a drying agent as well as a dehydrating agent and hence is used i a desiccator.

❤️ Hydrogen is another gas lighter than air; it is even lighter than helium. Hydrogen is not used in balloons and this demonstration shows why. Helium is a special gas called a Noble Gas, which means it doesn't burn. When a match is held near a helium-filled balloon, the balloon pops.

❤️ Nitric acid not used in the laboratory preparation of hydrogen. This is because nitric acid is a strong oxidising agent, and oxidises hydrogen gas to convert it into the water. sulphuric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid do not oxidise hydrogen into water hence preferred for the preparation of hydrogen gas.

️ Gases have lower density compared to that of solids or liquids. Gases are less dense than solids and liquids because their molecules are far apart in comparison to solids and liquids.
