There is low percolation rate in clay soil because there is very less gap between the soil particles.
but the particles of sandy soil and hence it has high percolation rate
hope it helps....

Rate of percolation is low in clayey soil as the particles of clayey soil are very small and the molicules are very tightly packed and do not allow water to pass through easily. Whereas in sandy soil the particles are big and allow water to pass easily.
