give reasons for the following:
(a)blue solution of copper sulphate changes to green when a piece of iron is added to this solution
(b) colourless concentrated sulphuric acid in a test tube changes to blue on adding a small piece of copper to it​

Answer:

a)So, when an iron nail is dipped in a copper sulphate solution, iron displaces copper from its solution to form iron sulphate, which is green in color. Hence, the blue color of copper sulphate solution changes into green color because of this displacement reaction.

b)Colourless concentrated sulphuric acid in a test tube changes to blue an adding a small piece of copper to it because copper displaces hydrogen present in sulphuric acid. as copper attributes blue colour the acid turns blue.
