Hi!!

Your answer is:

A copper vessel gets a dull green colour coating {Basic copper carbonate[CuCO3.Cu(OH)2] } because it gets oxidised as the requirements for oxidation are already present ( ie moisture/water and oxygen ).

Hope it helps you!!

If copper vessel is exposed to moist air for a long time, they get coated with dull greenish deposits commonly called basic copper carbonate, i.e., the mixture of copper hydroxide and copper carbonate. It is formed by the slow reaction of copper, oxygen, water and carbon dioxide gas present in the air.

The equation for the reaction is,
2Cu + O2 + H2O + CO2 = Cu(OH)2.CuCO3
