Give reasons for the following: When a piece of copper metal is added to a solution of zince sulphate, no change takes place, but the bule colour of capper sulphate fades away when piece of zinc is placed in its solution. ​

Copper is less reactive than zinc. So it cannot displace zinc ion from zinc sulphate solution. Hence there is no reaction. But, as zinc is more reactive than copper , so it displaces copper ion from copper sulphate to form zinc sulphate, which is not blue in colour.
