Give reasons
(i)the size of cl- ion is greater than the size of a cl atom
(ii)Argon atom is bigger than chlorine.
(iii)Ionisation potential of the element increases across a period.
(iv)Inert gases do not form ion.

Please anyone help me regarding the answers.

(1) It is because cl- ions gain one electron to achieve stable configuration and hence is bigger than cl atom.

(2) Argon atom is bigger than chlorine atom because argon atom has one more electron than chlorine.

(3) Because of chemical properties changes.

(4) Inert gas do not form ion as there outermost shell is complete.
