Reason:

The animals are mostly hunted for their skin, meat and other articles.

Whaling is the chasing of whales for their usable items, for example, meat and fat, which can be transformed into a sort of oil which turned out to be progressively critical in the Industrial Revolution.

On the other hand sealing is the process of killing the seal for the want of its skin.

In 1986, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) prohibited whaling in due to overexploitation of the species as well as to protect it from getting extinct.

On the other hand due to decreased demand of seal’s skin as well as its meat, sealing is also banned in most of the countries.
