This is because there is more amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of venus which traps the heat and makes the planet hotter..

On its dark side, Mercury gets very cold because it has almost no atmosphere to hold in heat and keep the surface warm.
Whereas
the atmosphere of Venus is very dense and it traps much more heat energy as compared to Mercury and so it is the hottest planet in our solar system .
