Heavy trucks are lifted with six to eight wheels because the wheels increase the surface area between the contact of the wheel with the road, hence decreasing the pressure per m2

As we know that P ∝ 1/A.
Due to large number of wheels the area of contact on the ground over which the weight of the heavy truck acts is increased.
This reduce the pressure (P ∝ 1/A) exerted by the truck on the ground.
