b) As dark colors absorb more heat the bottom of cooking utensil is often kept black so mote heat is trapped by it and the food to get cooked faster.

a) I think the new quilt traps our body heat and don't let it to escape as it contains air between the layers and as it get old it might get compressed due to excess of washing .
