Given :-

A linear equation in two variables i.e " 2x + y = 5".

To Find :-

Refer to the 1st Attachment.

Used Concept :-

  • Method to solve linear equations in two variables if one of the variable is given .

Solution :- Refer to the 2nd attachment and done as below .

There are 3 cases in this question . We will do all cases serial vise .

Case 1 :-

The given Equation :- 2x + y = 5

x = 0 , y = 5

Now , Put x = 0 , y = 5 in the above equation.

2 × 0 + 5 = 5

0 + 5 = 5

5 = 5 .

Therefore , the given values of "x and y"satisfies the equation.

Case 2 :-

The given Equation :- 2x + y = 5

x = ? , y = 0

Now , Put the given value of "y" and we get the value of "x" respectively .

2x + 0 = 5

2x = 5

x = 5/2

Therefore , x = 5/2 and ( x , y ) = ( 5/2 , 0 ) .

Case 3 :-

The given Equation :- 2x + y = 5

x = 2 , y = ?

Now , Put the given value of "x" and we get the value of "y" respectively.

2 × 2 + y = 5

4 + y = 5

y = 5 - 4

y = 1

Therefore , y = 1 and ( x , y ) = ( 2 , 1 ) .
