rules for writing electronic configuration is followed by Bohr -Bury Scheme which states that electrons move in fixed orbit also called shells and are named as K,L,M........ and no. n=1,2,3..........
and the no. of electrons that could be placed in it are given by2nsq. For example in K shell the electrons could be placed is 2×1×1=2 therefore followed by 8,16,32.......
But according to rule the L and M shell could not have more than 8 electrons if are the outermost one For e.g electronic configuration of Chlorine,Cl is K,L,M=2,8,7 and Carbon, K,L,M = 2,4
