Gondan is a famous story written by Munshi Premchand. It was first written in Urdu. It was written in Hindi in 1956. It has been told about the exploitation of the poor people of the village. Hori is a poor farmer who wants to keep a cow because cow is a symbol of being high in society. Fortunately, he gets a cow, but in the end, he has to give his life in return. After his death, the village priest told his widow that for the peace of Hori's soul, he should donate a cow to him. Thus, during the British rule, the story of social exploitation of an average farmer is given.
