sign conventions for a concave mirror and lenses are as follows:
i) focal length, f - positive(+)
ii) image distance, v :- a) positive(+) if the image is infront of the mirror (real image)
b) negative(-) if the image is behind of the mirror (virtual image)
iii) object distance, u :- a) positive(+) if the object is infront of the mirror (real object)
b) negative(-) if the object is behind of the mirror (virtual object)
iv) magnification, m :- a) positive(+) for image that is upright with respect to the object
b) negative(-) for image that is inverted with respect to the object
v) height of object, h1 and height of image, h2 :- taken as positive in case of irect and negative in case of inverted....
