the Pollen tube releases the two male gamet into the cytoplasm of the synergid.one of the male gamuts move towards the excel and fuses with its nucleus thus completing the syngamy.this results in the formation of Diploid cell, zygote.The Other male gamete moves toward that to polar nuclei located in the central sale and fuses with them to produce a triploid and primary endosperm nucleus .as this involves the fusion of three haploid nuclei it termed tripel fusion.

since two types of fusion syngamy and triple fusion take place in an embryo sac the phenomenon is termed as double fertilization ,any event unique to flowering plant .
