The following reasons throw some light on the state of agriculture decline:

Government regulations are diverting agricultural land for industrial purposes. Climate changes due to global warming harming with extended droughts, delayed monsoons etc. Policy failures of the Government. Poor infrastructural support. More and more of the younger population not inclined towards farming, thus moving to urban areas for non agricultural work.

Urbanization is one of the reasons which is discouraging agriculture because the land is being utilized for the buildings, as the population is growing more houses are being made and with more people, there is more demand for food, clothes, and other accessories, to cater to those needs factories and retail outlets are made. A lot of farmers cannot afford to provide food efficiently to the public as there is a competition, the use of old methods and old machinery is making the agricultural practices lack behind, which result in  a high unemployment rate, leading to lower growth rate overall. There is a demand for imported products as people have more exposure now they need packed and ready to use products.
