When a solution culture is being used for raising and nurturing flowers (Fitting it as a nursery for boredoms) and vegetables at home. This soilless or culture without the usage of soil for the production of plants is often termed as Hydroponics (In Greek language. hydro means water and ponas means excretion, colletively water excretion).
Plants are raised in small tanks of concrete or metal which are durable and have great compositive mixes. The upper covering has the support for plants and vegetables. The narrow or middle ranks provided with an enough solute of mineral nutrition give the enough need for the maintainance of plants deficit requirements. A pump I say present to circulate the air as well as nutrient solution. Roots of the plants are, therefore, regularly provided with a aerated medium of the nutrient solution.
Hydroponics is quite useful in areas having thin, infertile or without humus and dry soils with no water content. These conserve water making it more beneficial for saving and conservation of water. Additionally, Hydroponics can regulate and maintain the pH to an optimum level for a particular crop, control soil borne pathogens or soil containing disease causing or viral particles to infect the plant, avoiding problems of regular weeding which revolves Labour work including care given to a low level and obtain consistently better yield, which is, economically benificial and sustainable at the same time. Out of season vegetables (such as, Tomato, seedless cucumber, lettuce) and flowers can also be obtained from the given sets of method. However, it is really pricey as the cost of setting up a hydroponic system is usually very high.
Hydroponics can be of three types- tank system, a film system and aeroponics. In the tank system the hydroponics (given by Gericke et al 1937) the roots are completely immersed in the nutrient solution and air is sent in the form of bubbles throughout the solution. In film technique of hydroponics (method given by Cooper et al 1979), plants are grown in a trough (space provided for nutritious solute) or a tube (similar with smaller space) having a thin film of recirculated nutrient solution (continuous uninterrupted flow of solute through the solution in a uniform manner). In aeroponics (methods given by Weathers and Zobel et al 1992 respectively) roots are suspended in the air from a different level over the nutrient solution which is eventually whipped into a nutrient mist (cloud of moisture in the air into Formate of the solute) by a motor controlled driven rotor.
