then, for (I) the length of ladder = length of hypotenuse

Now,H Sq.= base Sq. + perpendicular Sq ( Pythagoras theorem)

and H=whole √ 9 sq + 12 Sq ( whole √ 144+81)

H= whole √ 225

and thus H= 15 m. and H= lengh of ladder

Now, for part (ii)we know that the length of ladder is fixed(i.e 15 m)So,by shifting the distance of base would make no difference in hypotenuse.

Similarly,by Pythagoras theorem

base Sq.+ perpendicular Sq= hypotenuse Sq

(12) Sq + perpendicular Sq= (15)Sq

144+ perpendicular Sq= 225

therefore, perpendicular Sq= 81

and thus, perpendicular or height where the ladder now reaches is 9m.
