give the biochemicaal composition of plasma membrane.how are lipid molecules arranged in the membrane
Answers
According to the Fluid mosaic model by
Singer and Nicolson,
The lipids are the seas or oceans in which the proteins were floating like icebergs in plasma membrane.
Lipid is as bilayer with polar heads(phosphate+choline+glycerol). and non polar tails(long fatty acid chain)
It is like a sperm in both sides of the plasma membrane
HLO MATE HERE IS UR ANSWER
⭐. Biochemical investigations reveal that the cell membrane possess protein and carbohydrates .
⭐. The cell membrane is composed of lipids arranged in a bilayer .
⭐. Within the membrane , the polar ( hydrophilic ) heads is towards the outer side and the hydrophobic tail is towards the inner part .
⭐. This ensures that non polar tail of saturated hydrocarbons is protected from the aqueous environment.
⭐. The fluidmosaic model was proposed by singer and Nicolson
⭐. It is widely accepted model.
⭐. According to this model , the quasi - fluid nature of lipid enables lateral movement of proteins within the overall bilayer.
