The cell is represented by keeping in view the following points: 1- It is customary to write the anode of thecell on the left and the cathode to the right. In a Daniell cell, a zinc rod partially immersed in a ZnSo4 solution and a copper rod in a CuSo4 solution are the two electrodes.

Answer:

Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/Cu

Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/CuZn: Zn2+(1M)//Cu2+(1M):Cu

  1. Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/CuZn: Zn2+(1M)//Cu2+(1M):CuOn the left-hand side anode is written and on the right-hand side cathode is written
  2. Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/CuZn: Zn2+(1M)//Cu2+(1M):CuOn the left-hand side anode is written and on the right-hand side cathode is writtenAnode is written by writing the metal first and then the electrolyte, the two are separated by vertical line or semicolon
  3. Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/CuZn: Zn2+(1M)//Cu2+(1M):CuOn the left-hand side anode is written and on the right-hand side cathode is writtenAnode is written by writing the metal first and then the electrolyte, the two are separated by vertical line or semicolonCathode is written by first writing the electrolyte and metal thereafter the two are separated by vertical line or semicolon
  4. Zn/ZnSO4 (aq)// CuSO4(aq)/CuZn: Zn2+(1M)//Cu2+(1M):CuOn the left-hand side anode is written and on the right-hand side cathode is writtenAnode is written by writing the metal first and then the electrolyte, the two are separated by vertical line or semicolonCathode is written by first writing the electrolyte and metal thereafter the two are separated by vertical line or semicolonThe electrolyte may be represented either as complete formula of the whole compound or by ionic species.
  5. The two half cells anode and cathode are separated by double vertical lines which indicate the salt bridge.
