Difference between pure water and potable water :-

Pure water -
Pure water, as the title suggests, is purified water and contains no minerals or added chemicals. It is pure H₂O and only contains Hydrogen and Oxygen. Pure water is water which has been mechanically filtered and processed to remove all impurities and make it suitable for use. Distilled water is the most common form of pure water. Pure water can be used in cooking, drinking, scientific studies and laboratories. Nowadays water is frequently purified by processes like capacitive deionization, carbon filtering, reverse osmosis, micro-filtration, ultra-filtration, ultraviolet oxidation etc.

Potable water -
Potable water is water which is fit for consumption by human beings and other animals. It is also called drinking water. Potable water is safe for drinking and for food preparation, without the risks of health problems. Water which is contaminated can be treated to turn it into potable water. One of the easiest way to treat water is boiling. Boiling the water may not remove heavy contaminants, but it can neutralize most bacteria and viruses which may be present. Water can also be treated with chemicals such as bleach.
