difference between arteries and veins is the job that they do. Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body, and veins carry oxygen-poor blood back from the body to the heart. Your body also contains other, smaller blood vessels.

Arteries
-----------

Arteries carry oxygen-rich blood from the heart to all parts of the bodies. The blood flow is rapid and at a high pressure, the arteries have thick elastic walls.

Veins
--------

Veins are the vessels which carry carbon dioxide-rich blood from all parts of the body back to the heart. The veins have thin walls. There are valves present in veins which allow blood to flow only toward the heart.
