The energy transformation that is taking place in the photosynthesis process is the conversion of "light energy" into "chemical energy". This transformation drives the photosynthesis process and food production. The light energy reserved in the process of sunlight is used in the splitting of water that generates protons and electrons which is used to produce ATP.

This ATP helps the plant in making starch (energy) from water and carbon dioxide.

The reaction involved in photosynthesis is given below:

\bold{6H_2O + 6CO_2 \rightarrow C_6H_{12}O_6 + 6O_2}
