There are dissimilarities between Eastern and western coast if India because of the rainfall pattern. Western coast receives rainfall in the south west monsoon season from the Arabian sea branch of the monsoon winds whereas the eastern coastal plains hardly gets any rainfall from the bay of Bengal branch of the monsoon winds. Only Tamil Nadu gets winter rainfall from the retreating north east monsoon winds
