Refraction

the bending of the light ray from its path while passing from one medium to the other medium is called refraction of light .

laws of refraction

  1. Snell's law : for any two media and for light of a given wavelength ,the ratio of the sine to the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant .

 \frac{ \sin(i) }{ \sin(r) }  = constant \:  = u21 =  \frac{u2}{u1}

2 . the incident ray ,the refracted ray and the normal at the incident plane all lie in the same plane .

⏩ conditions of no refraction

  1. if the light is incident normally on a boundary of the surface
  2. if the refractive indices of two media are equal.

i hope it helps you

Snell's law (also known as snell - Descarteslaw and law the of refraction) is formula used to describe the Relationship between the angle of incidence and refraction, Referring to light Or other waves passing through the boundary between two different isotropic media,such as water,glass or air.
