As the ball translational velocity decreases due to air resistance, the friction force acts in direction of the motion of the ball and hence it increases the translational velocity and decreases the angular velocity till translational velocity becomes equal to the product of the angular velocity and the radius of the ball due to which the point of contact stays at rest
