Kirchhoff’s loop rule states that
“ The directed sum of electrical potential difference in a closed loop is zero “
The number of loops equation (loops) depends upon the number of unknown variable. You can apply this law to any closed loop. So, in a given diagram of circuit you can obtain loop equation depending upon the number of unknown variables.
Loops are chosen in such a way that equation obtained solves the purpose of determining the unknown variables.
