The elements which have the same number of electrons are defined as iso-electronic configuration.

The electronic configuration of Mg^{2+} is 1s^{2} 2s^{2}  2p^{6} (which has 8 electrons in the outermost shell)

Its configuration is equal to the nearest inert gas configuration neon. The electronic configuration of neon is 1s^{2}2s^{2}2p^{6} which has 8 electrons in the outermost shell. So the  elements which has 8 electrons in the outermost shell are iso-electronic with Mg^{2+}.

Thus Mg^{2+}  having iso-electronic configuration with F^{-} and Na^{+}

The electronic configuration of Na+ is  1s^{2} 2s^{2}  2p^{6}.
