Difference between hydrogen and alkali metals:
1) Hydrogen is a non metal whereas alkali metals are metals.
2) Hydrogen can form both ionic as well as covalent compounds whereas alkali metals only form ionic compounds.
3) Hydrogen can accept as well as lose its single electron whereas alkali metals readily lose their electron to form a noble gas configuration.
4) Hydrogen is a gas at room temperature whereas alkali metals are solid at room temperature.
5) Hydrogen ion is unstable in water. H+readily react wth water to form H3O+whereas Na+ and K+ are stable in water.
6) Ionisation Energy of hydrogen (313 K cal per mole) is very high as compared to the alkali metals (maximum of 147 K cal per mole).
So, there are many differences between hydrogen and alkali metals.
