Denial of equal voting rights of women was the scene before Independence. India has taken immense in giving voting rights form since India got its freedom.
Examples:
1. Saudi Arabian government does not allow the women to vote
2. France- Before french revolution, only people with Land holdings could vote
3. In Africa, during the Apartheid ; Blacks were not allowed to vote.
