The main reasons for Civil War in Sri Lanka are as follows :-

1. Sinhala was made the official language .
2. Tamil language was disregarded .
3. The government favoured only the Sinhala speaking applicants for university positions and government jobs .
4. The new constitution protected and forested only Buddhism.
5. The government policies denied the Tamils all rights - Political , Economic and ignored all their interests .They received no rights and jobs .
