China is certainly not a Democracy; since it has a single political party the citizens cannot exercise their discretion in selecting the governance.

In China elections are held regularly after five years to elect country's parliament, that is, National People's Congress, which has the power to appoint the president of the country.China cannot be called a democracy because:1. only those who are members of the Chinese Communist Party or eight smaller parties are allied to it were allowed to contest elections held in 2002-03.2. before contesting elections, the candidate needs approval of Chinese Communist Party.3. the government is always formed by the communist party.
