==valley and alpine glaciers often of stupendous size, topography deeply cut by erosion.


Two Characteristics of Central Highlands are
==They stretch from the north-west with the Aravalis, further merging with the sandy and rocky DESERT of Rajasthan.

Northern Plains

1) The northern plains has been formed by the interplay of three major rivers system namely ÷ the indus, teh Ganga ,the Brahmaputra along with their tributaries.

2) the plains also formed of alluvial soils.

3) The deposition of alluviliam in a vast basin lying at the foothills of Himalayas over millions of years, formed this fertile plain.

4) It spreads I an area of 7 lakh sq.cm. The plain being about 2400km long to 320 on board, is a densely populated physiographic division.

5) With a rich soil cover combined with adequate water supply and favorable climate it is agriculture a very productive part of India.


Central Highlands

1) The part of Peninsular plateau lying to the north of Narmada river covering a major area of the Malwa palteau is known as Central Highlands.

2) The vindhyan range is bounded by the Central Highlands on the south and Aravali on the Northwest.

3) The further Westward extension gradually merges with the sandy and rocky dessert of Rajasthan.

4) The eastward extension of this plateau are locally known as the Bundelkhand and the Bandelkand.

5) The chotangpur plateau marks the further eastward extension
