Oxidation reaction::::
1.) In oxidation reaction oxygen is added or hydrogen is removed from the reactants.
.
.
OR

2.) Oxidation is a reaction in which there is increase in the oxidation number.
.
Reduction reaction:::;
1.) During this reaction hydrogen is added or oxygen is removed.
.
2.) During this reaction there is reduction in the oxidation number of the reactants.
.
Mostly all the combustion reaction is an oxidation reaction.

2Na + O2 ======>Na2O2 (oxidation reaction )

\underline\bold{\large{Oxidation\:Reaction}}
In this reaction either oxygen is added or hydrogen is removed.

\underline\bold{\large{Reduction \:Reaction}}
In this reaction either hydrogen is added or oxygen is removed.

\underline\bold{\large{For\:Example:-}}

H2S + Cl2 =====》S + 2HCl

In the above reaction Hydrogen is added to chlorine , hence chlorine is reduced.
And Hydrogen is removed from Hydrogen Sulphide, hence H2S is oxidised.
