» Each crops need a specific amount of water during the various stages of its growth and repening Some crops needs more water whereas other requires less water , for example , paddy crops is transplanted in standing water and requires continuous irrigation whereas other crops like wheat , gram and cotton extra do not required so much water . for cereal crops like wheat , irrigation is needed at three stage before : before ploughing the field ; at the time of flowering ; and that at the time of development of grain .
