The soil carries all the nutrients that our food contains. In order to produce healthy crops, farmers are in dire need of soil which is healthy and full of nutrient. The reasons for the use of fertilizers are:

1. The nutrients in the soil allow the plant/crops to grow. When this nutrient is missing from the soil, fertilizers are used to cater to the nutrient deficiency as they contain important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

2. Fertilizers help keep the soil healthy and not let its nutrients fade out in order to conserve the soil for future use. This helps in sustainable development as well.
