Following are the reasons why we use mercury in thermometer

1: It doesn't wet the glass, so you don't get inaccurate readings if the temperature is falling.

2: It is a metal, so it's a good conductor of heat. This means that it reacts quickly to changes of temperature.

3: It is very reflective, so it's easy to see and to read accurately.

most metals are good conductor of heat and they are solid at the room temperature. mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature .it use because of it have more coefficient of expansion. hence the slightest change in temperature is notable when it is used in a thermometer .please mark me as brand list .I hope you have got your answer .☺☺☺☺
