Step-by-step explanation:

I) Since a(b) = 3a - b :

: 4(3) = 3(4) - 3 = 12-3 = 9

II) Since a(b) = 3a - b :

: 2(4(3)) = 2(12) = 3(2) - 12 = 6-12 = -6

Answer:

(I)  4*3=9

(II) 2*(4*3) = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

(i) a*b = 3a - b

   4*3 ; a = 4, b = 3

   4*3 = 3(4) - 3

          = 12 - 3

          = 9

(ii) 2*(4*3)

in this case, we have to solve the one in the bracket first (4*3)

 recall;  (4*3) = 9

    ∴ 2*(4*3) = 2*9

                   =3(2) - 9 { a=2, b=9}

                   =6 - 9

                   = -3
