Answer:

The area of the given figure is 270 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : ABCE is a parallelogram, EC = 18 cm, AD = 20cm and

            'P' is midpoint of AD,

The area of given figure ABCDE = ?

Solution : The area of given figure ABCDE = area of parallelogram ABCE +

                                                                          area of triangle ECD

Area of ABCE = Base EC x Height AP

                       = 18 x 10                               ∵ given AP = 1/2 AD

                       = 180 cm²

Are of triangle ECD = 1/2 x Base EC x Height PD

                                = 1/2 x 18 x 10              ∵ given PD = 1/2 AD

                                = 90 cm²

The area of given figure ABCDE = area of parallelogram ABCE +

                                                                          area of triangle ECD

                                                      = 180 +90

                                                      = 270 cm²
