Given : AE = AD, AB = 8 units and AD = 10  units

To Find : area (in sq. units) of the triangle  CED

Solution:

AB = 8

AE = AD = 10

BE²  = AE² - AB²

=> BE²  =  10²  - 8²

=> BE²  = 6²

=> BE = 6

BC  = AD =  10

=> CE = BC - BE

=> CE = 10 - 6

=> CE = 4

DC = AB = 8

Area of Δ CED = (1/2) CD * CE

= (1/2) * 8 * 4

= 16 sq units

Area of Δ CED =  16 sq units
