a)equivalent resistance 3+6+9=18ohms
b)v=ir then I=v/r
I=12/18=2/3A

QGP: Hello, Please correct your answer. You have put in the wrong voltage of the battery

Hello Friend,

Here's the answer.

If you see the circuit carefully, you can see that the three resistors are in series.

Here's how you can understand it.
Current flows from the positive terminal of battery to negative terminal. In the figure, current starts from b, then goes through the three resistors one by one. As the current passing through the three resistors is the same, we can say that the resistors are in series.

→ Now, the three resistors are in series.

Let equivalent resistance be R.

So, R = (3 + 9 + 6) Ω
So, R = 18 Ω

→ Now, by Ohm's Law,

V = R I
(where V is voltage of battery, and I is current flowing through the circuit)

So, V = R I
So, 12 = 18 I
So, I = 12/18
So, I = 2/3 A

→ Thus,

a) Equivalent Resistance = 18 Ω
b) Current flowing through battery = 2/3 A

Hope it helps.
