The DNA bases are Adenine(A), Guanine(G), Cytosine(C) and Thyamine(T)

these bases pair up with the complementary bases as follows;

Adenine pairs up with Thyamine i.e A-T

Cytosine pairs up with Guanine i.e C-G

therefore in this case, the complementary strand of the DNA with the following bases i.e GCAGTC is CGTCAG.

Given:

DNA strand = GCAGTC

To find:

The other half of the DNA strand.

DNA pairs:

  • Adenine always pairs with Thymine. ( A - T )
  • Guanine always pairs with Cytosine ( G - C )

As they are the complementing pairs of each other,

The other half of this strand will be,

CGTCAG

Hence, the DNA sequence, GCAGTC * CGTCAG
