the burning of fossil fuels releases various harmful gases such as sulphur dioxide SO2,carbon monoxide so Nitrogen dioxide in NO2 and carbon dioxide CO2 into the atmosphere, which leads to global warming and pollutes air, water and land.

When fossil fuels are burnt, a large amount of carbon dioxide and other gases are released into the atmosphere. The carbon dioxide traps the solar radiation in the atmosphere and causes greenhouse effect. This result in rising the earth's temperature causing global warming. global warming can lead to melting of the polar ice caps, causing Ocean level to rise and submerging of low lying areas.
